When in Portland, this restaurant is a must! A delicious gem, and one of a kind. I was in Portland for a conference and asked the staff at the Duniway were to eat a good breakfast, I'm glad I did. The food is made with passion and heart you can taste in every bite. I had the biscuits and gravy that were so delicioso. Enough food for two people. I'll be back Portland just to go here. Thank you to the staff who sung HBD to me that day, thanks to my supervisor.

Grits and got gags in the air fryer so now 13 years later and still no grits at all lol but it's Alan who made it so easy to eat merry Christmas!!

The gumbo was delicious, though a bit salty for my taste. Still really good! I got buttered grits on the side, which were tasty. I just wish they gave more rice with the dish or maybe more cornbread! It is great that they stay open late and serve up some delicious Southern soul food. Definitely worth checking out!

First time checking this place out! The staff was very nice. They were open late. I went on a Friday night and there was not a lot of people. The wait to be seated was minimal and I was able to order within 5 minutes of being seated. I recommend ordering the grits when you come here! The interior is pretty unique. The decoration brings this place alive! There is not a lot of parking outside. The inside was clean and well kept. There are bathrooms inside.

Had a delightful bday brunch for my grandson today. We were a group of 12. Service was excellent. Food also excellent. They were out of cupcake for the bday man so the waitress ran down the street and got him a cinnamon roll!! Above and beyond. Atmosphere was awesome! Will definitely be going back!!!

I stayed in Portland almost 8 months and never heard of this place but somehow found it when I came back for a visit and it's my new fave brunch spot in Portland. The southern belle in me was longing for months for this exact restaurant. Grits, glorious grits! Hardly anyone serves grits in pdx meanwhile this place has it in the name and I can confirm the grits are good, creamy and buttery. I got the catfish and grits and was smiling so hard before the food even came. I thought I'd have to wait to go back home to get a meal like that but no this gem has it and they did it right. The fish was soo good, crispy and good coating that was seasoned just enough. It came with some type of remoulade tartar sauce that was very very good and then also this place had crystal hot sauce, I almost cried. My meal was a 10/10 everything was great. I savored every bite. I was so torn between the fish and grits or the shrimp and grits. But I made the right choice. Now the service was great, I sat at the bar and the girl there was very friendly but the service was slow. It looks like they may be another place struggling with staffing, idk. It was a Monday and they had long wait and then once I sat it still took a while for my food to come. Now I had nothing to do so it was no big deal but definitely something I'll take into account before returning. But lemme tell you if you're looking for real southern comfort breakfast then this is the place! They even had cafe du monde chicory coffee. And everything on the menu seems so good, they even offered 2 styles of shrimps and grits which I appreciated as a Louisianian cause the Cajun way is different. And the place was very cute and chill with local artwork hanging all around. Even though I'm currently no longer in Portland it's nice to know there's a southern spot I can go to while in the PNW. PS there's another well known Cajun/southern restaurant in pdx that I admit is good but Grits N Gravy is much much better. Just saying.

The menu is overwhelming! It's so hard to decide on what to get- I went for the waffle breakfast with a side of buttered grits. The side of buttered grits was really good- I'd come back to try something different on the menu next time.

Stopped by for breakfast on the last day of our trip. Such a great choice! Fried green tomatoes were perfectly done. Chicken fried chicken was also great. The gravy and sauces that came with our meals were a highlight! Service was fairly fast for how busy they were. We loved the vibe too, super cool decor and music. Will definitely make this a planned stop for our next trip!

We came to Grits N' Gravy on a 4 day Portland trip for a wedding. Our friends stayed at a hotel across the street and ate their multiple times during their short stay. Cannot say enough great things about GnG, from the food to the staff and ambiance. We came in on a packed Sunday and got seated as a group of 7 after a short wait. The staff are so incredibly warm and attentive. We ordered the southern fried catfish and chicken fried steak. Everything was SO delicious - I still think about the rice and gravy. Highly recommend.
